WBE will be filling a paraprofessional position for the 2019-20 school year. If you are interested, please visit the SEK Interlocal 637 website and apply there by Monday, August 26th at noon. We hope to find an applicant who is able to start work on or before August 29th.
Kansas law KSA 8-1556 requires all motorists to stop when approaching a stopped school bus from either direction when it is displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm. Motorists are to remain stopped until the bus is no longer displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm.
New JH/HS Principal Ice Cream Meet-&-Greet tomorrow night (8/22). Come meet Mr. Reith. This is for parents & students. 7th-8th grade from 6-7 PM; 9th-10th grade from 7-8 PM and 11th-12th grade from 8-9 PM. It will be outside on the patio (back of commons area). See you there!
The Fitness Center will reopen to the public on Monday, August 26. Monday - Friday the fitness center will open at 5:00 AM and close again at 7:00 AM. It will then reopen at 5:30 PM and be open until 9:00 PM.

REMINDER - Band Parent Meeting for 7th-12th grade students will be at 7:30 PM, Thursday, August 15 in the Band Room.
MEETING SITE CHANGED: Fall Sports Parent Meeting at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 15 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held in the HIGH SCHOOL COMMONS AREA. The parking lot at WBE was completed today and is not ready for traffic to drive on it.
We are thrilled about the new mulch we are adding to our WBE playground for next year, but for right now we need to close it for construction. Thanks!
WBE Playground will see recycled rubber added on the playground to replace the river gravel. The process began this morning and will be completed by the time school begins.
Developmental screenings on Aug. 23rd at WBE for 3-5 year-old students who may be in need of special services. This is a free screening conducted by the Southeast Kansas Interlocal #637. Appointments are needed and can be made by contacting Jennifer Vaughn at 620-704-6549.
The Fitness Center is nearing completion. Everything in the bathroom & shower/changing room were installed this morning...hot water heater, water fountain, toilet, & shower fixtures. The deep cleaning can begin tomorrow! We will notify everyone of the new reopening date soon.

The 2.5 inch overlay project is underway in the WBE drive. The project is expected to take 2 days to complete. The drive will be closed for several additional days to allow the asphalt to be ready for vehicle traffic.

Staff and guest parking areas are nearly completed at the JH/HS. Still have two handicap spaces to paint, but everything else is finished. The asphalt company will be starting on the 2.5 inch overlay at WBE Elementary School tomorrow morning. Looking nice!
