It was quite a day for Uniontown FFA member Maria Cibrian Vazquez as she presented the FFA Creed in Spanish to the Kansas State Board of Education in Topeka. Maria was invited by Mr. Guy Shoulders, State FFA Advisor and Agriculture Education Program Consultant for KSDE, to present at the February meeting.
As Mr. Shoulders introduced Maria, he also announced that Kansas would hold its inaugural FFA Spanish Creed speaking competition this spring at the Kansas FFA Convention. The addition of this competition may have come at some point, but was undoubtedly expedited by the success of Maria. Maria was the National Champion Spanish FFA Creed Speaker this past fall in Indianapolis.
Prior to the presentation Maria toured the state capital building along with her FFA Advisor Scott Sutton, Spanish Teacher Mrs. Onelio and Principal Mr. Onelio. Even more special was the presence of her family on the trip as well. Her parents Fernando and Vaneza along with her brother Oscar made the trip as well.
Maria has also been invited to join the Kansas FFA Officer team at the state capitol next week to be apart of the kick off celebration of National FFA Week!

Uniontown's Special Olympics traveled to Pitt State for basketball. Dylan Lawrence placed 2nd, Dominic Pollreis placed 2nd, Jarin Clever placed 3rd, Will Maycumber placed 3rd, Adam Senkevech placed 3rd, and Zane Ryan placed 1st. The 5 on5 team placed second.
