The UHS Booster Club has an extremely fun opportunity for our community members to participate in at the September 20th home football game! Here are the details! Buy a Yard Line- How it works: 1. For $10, you purchase a yard line (96 available) for the game on Friday, September 20th. 2. A yard line will be assigned by random draw and shared with the participants. 3. If the action at the end of the first (1) or third (3) quarter ends on your yard line, you receive $100! 4. If all of the yard lines are not sold, and action at the end of the first quarter ends on an unsold yard line, the prize money will roll over to the 3rd quarter. That is, the 3rd quarter winner would win $200. 5. If all of the yard lines are not sold, and action at the end of the third quarter ends on an unsold yard line, then the prize money is forfeited and all proceeds would go to the booster club. 6. If there is a TOUCHDOWN as time expires at the end of the 1st or 3rd quarter, then the owner of the three (3) yard line on that side of the field will receive the prize. 7. Multiple yard lines may be purchased by the same participant. 8. Coaches and players are NOT eligible to purchase yard lines; however, family members may purchase yard lines. 9. The same person may win the prizes in both quarters. 10. You do NOT have to be present to win BUT we hope you are there cheering on the EAGLES! 11. If less than 20 yard lines are sold, then all money will be refunded and no contest will happen. Yard lines can be purchased from: Tara Gorman- tgorman@uniontown235.org OR Scott Sutton scsutton@uniontown235.org. Yard lines can also be purchased at the game until kickoff.

The junior high agriculture class and the high school junior Ag students presented brief lessons to the 4th and 5th grades the past two days. The junior high Ag class did a lesson over beef cattle with the 5th graders and had the students play a game of "Beef Bingo". The Junior Ag class presented a lesson over the dairy cattle industry with the 4th graders which concluded with the students making their own homemade ice cream. Dear WBE Family, Staying hydrated with water is crucial for elementary school students as it plays a vital role in their overall health and well-being. Proper hydration helps to improve focus, concentration, and cognitive function, which are essential for optimal learning and academic performance. Encouraging children to drink enough water throughout the day at school can help keep them energized, healthy, and ready to learn. To support proper hydration among our students at WBE, each student has been provided with a "WBE" water bottle. While you are welcome to provide your child with a different water bottle, please ensure that it adheres to the following guidelines: WBE Water Bottle Guidelines - Must be see-through (No Glass) - Prohibited from having flavor infusers or drink mixes - Must have a spill-preventing lid - Arrive at school empty - Follow classroom procedures for filling bottles - Return home for cleaning Adhering to these guidelines will help to maintain the safety and well-being of our students while at school. The requirement for transparent, non-glass water bottles enables easy monitoring and minimizes the risk of accidents. By restricting flavor infusers and drink mixes, we uphold a clean and healthy environment for all students. The necessity of spill-preventing lids assists in avoiding disruptions in the classroom. Ensuring that water bottles arrive empty and following proper filling procedures promotes responsible water consumption throughout the day. Additionally, returning water bottles home for regular cleaning encourages good hygiene practices. We appreciate your cooperation in assisting us in creating a safe and healthy learning environment for all our students. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Dear West Bourbon Elementary School Family, As we come to the end of our first full week back at school, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past few days and express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for entrusting us with your child's education and being a part of the WBE family. This week has been filled with excitement, anticipation, and a sense of renewal as we welcomed our students back to the halls of West Bourbon Elementary for a full week of school. The energy and enthusiasm that radiated from the classrooms, playgrounds, and hallways were truly amazing. Today we took time to celebrate the remarkable achievements of many of our students who earned exemplary scores on the Kansas State Assessments in reading, math, and science during the 2023-24 school year. These results not only reflect the hard work put in by our students but also highlight the excellent support and guidance they received from our incredible parents, teachers, and staff. We must resolve to improve on what we achieved as we take on the 2024-25 school year. As we progress through this year together, I am excited to announce the introduction of a friendly competition that will add a spark of enthusiasm to our days ahead – The Outstanding Attendance Challenge! We believe that regular attendance plays a crucial role in a student's success, and this initiative aims to encourage and motivate our students to be present and engaged in their learning. A student’s best ability is their availability! I invite all parents to join us in supporting and encouraging our students as they participate in this friendly competition. Together, let us instill in our children the value of consistent attendance and active participation in their education, for it is through these small steps that great achievements are made possible. I am excited for all the adventures, discoveries, and accomplishments that lie ahead this school year. Thank you for being an essential part of the West Bourbon Elementary family. Here's to a fantastic year of teaching and learning! Warm regards, Dustin Miller Principal, West Bourbon Elementary
